Any odd sized roms need to be padded to the next size or
treated and named like the next size.
Megadrive/genesis roms need to be padded. Snes seems to let you just rename the
rom.
Megadrive/genesis roms seem to have to be padded.
Say phantasy star 2 is 6mb you have to pad it to 8mb.
Sfc/snes it seem to be ok to lie to it and just rename the file.
Say a rom like wildgun is really 8mb and the mgd2 file name would be SF8000.058.
But now it has a trainer in it and its real size is 8.1mb. you would give it the
mgd2 name SF16000.078.
I hope this helps
It has worked for me
Let me know of any thing you know that i did wrong or missed or any better ways
to do things
Here are most of my notes
The MGD2 only accepts certain filenames, and these filenames
must be specified in an index file, "MULTI-GD", otherwise the
MGD2 will not recognize the file. In the case of multiple games
being stored in a single disk, simply enter its corresponding
MULTI-GD index into the "MULTI-GD" file.

Open pclink14 or pclink20.
have mgd rom in c:\

genesis roms xx=md
snes roms xx=sf
turbografx roms xx=pc
supergrafx roms xx=pc
gamegear roms XX=gg
markIII/sms roms XX=gg
So far i have not needed to split snes roms for linking up with my pc to my 32mb
dram
Convert genesis .bin roms to mgd2 with megaconv11b.
rom.bin to rom.md using megaconv11b(works with 8mbit)
>megaconv -b rom.bin -m
To make cotton work on megadrive! I took the cotton .bin used megaconv to change
it to a .smd rom then used segatool v1.0 to split it into 8mb files. so you get
3 files 8mb,8mb,4mb. then convert those to mgd2 files with megaconv v1.0. Put
the 32mb mgd2 megadrive i/o switch in 24mb mode. file names=
(md20xxxa.038)
(md20xxxb.038)
(md20xxxc.038)
Use rompad v1.0 to pad snes and genesis roms.
All genesis roms need to be 1,2,4,8, in size to load correctly.
Most snes roms that are hi will not work use ucon to check
Use ucon141 to split roms
>ucon s rom /sg(genesis) or /sn(snes)
Some .bin sega genesis roms say they are mgd2 roms in ucon141 but they are not
use megaconv to convert .bin to mgd2
Use ucon141 and force it to convert supergrafx and pcengine roms as snes roms.
Then just rename them.
>ucon c rom /sn
name or pad any file to the next larges size for mgd2 name if it is 11.5 mb
treat it like it is 16mb
3MB(20mb) genesis roms leave as .smd rom then split with segatool then use ucon
to
change split rom to mgd2 files.
my snes sram wont load using the i/o unit. use cable by its self to load snes
sram roms.
Pad pc-engine games with rompad to 8m if odd ball size. rename padded 3mb to
pc8000.030
and 6mb pc8000.058
Some pce-roms need to be in the usa mode on the adapter neutopia2 and military
madness
Use uconv to convert gg games to mgd2 if needed when it is tested as a
mgd2/boxer.
Most gamegear and sega master system roms are in the mgd2 format. you just have
to rename them.
the mgd2 i/o unit that plays master system roms on genesis only work with some
genesis systems. I have a genesis(1st ver) with a sega cd(1st) and a 32x. you
can only have the
genesis by its self to have some master system games to work (no sega-cd/32x
plugged in). Sega nomad will not work with
the master system to genesis i/o unit.
I used aladdin to convert game genie codes to gold finger codes. 1735-cda0 is
the game genie code
>aladdin 1735-cda0
0e27363xxxx580 is the code aladdin gives you
to load goldfinger code into mgd2
type f 0e27363xxxx580
and then rest the game on the system
use ucon64 to patch game genie roms
>ucon64 romname --gg=xxxx-xxxx --snes --rom
